Thanks to everyone who entered our Colorado Shakespeare Festival ticket contest, and congratulations to the winners! The correct answer was “Cornwall”.
Q: What region in England does the dance “The Helston Furry” come from? (hint: Helston is a town, not a region!) (hint 2: you can find the answer in the notes for our latest CD, Winter Still).

Kindred Spirits, minus Ana who is on vacation in Germany, will warm up the crowds before the Colorado Shakespeare Festival this summer with three shows of Renaissance music on the Norlin Quadrangle on the CU Boulder campus. The 45-minute sets (so-called “Green Shows”) will start an hour and a half before the play, and (weather permitting) will be on the grass in front of Hellems Arts and Sciences.

For many years we have wanted to create a musical tribute to the spirit of winter. And now we have spent most of this year recording it. With our new CD “Winter Still” we are celebrating the dark of winter and the lighting of candles and fires, gentle snowfall and winter storm, raucous dance and quiet meditation, feasting and fasting and the richness of tunes originating from many different places in this world. We have delighted in making this CD and hope that you will enjoy our instrumental renderings of ancient carols and winter tunes.
Celtic harp, viola, violin, fiddle, bouzouki, flute, piccolo, cello, guitar, accordion, bass, didgerididoo.

Welcome to the Kindred Spirits home page. Here you can find music of the Renaissance period, of Celtic lands and from other ancient times and traditions. Listen, read, enjoy, visit us often.
We are 4 musicians and 9 instruments . We don’t know if that makes us a quartet but we do know that we have a lot of fun exploring the instruments, arrangements and the musical possibilities in every piece we play:
~ Vicki on flute and piccolo
~ Mark on bouzouki and fiddle
~ Marianne on Celtic harp and viola/violin
~ Ana on cello, guitar, and accordion
Contact us with questions, for booking requests, and for additional information. We’ll be delighted to hear from you! In the meantime, please enjoy our music! Fa la la la la
“Now is the joyous time,
Dispelling all woes, Fa la la.
For the time we have left
Let us live in revelry, And let us honor
Such a lord, Fa la la.”
